About Poemasabi Jr.

Poemasabi Jr. started as an experiment in student blogging for some 1st and 2nd graders in a suburban school in New England during May 2011 with four classrooms. Every year we add more classrooms in our school to the project.

The students write the poems and publish them with teacher help. In some cases they have taken the forms that they have been taught in the classroom and created abstracted forms from them on their own. Even in the case of the Prezi shape poems, the students have designed the shapes and sit with the facilitator directing the development of the poem.

Poemasabi himself works in several classrooms with these young poets and was inspired by the teachers in those rooms to create a space online for the students to share their work.

Students are credited by pen names.
